Peter Wilkinson is the founder and Director of Pyrology Limited, providing a wide range of safety, fire, and risk engineering services to both established buildings and new-build projects.
He chairs the British Standards Technical Committee FSH/24, developing and codifying fire safety engineering practices, and represents the UK on European standards committees.
Peter is a Visiting Professor at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering at Loughborough University, helping to inject fire safety know how into architecture and built-environment student curricula.
He is a Trustee Director of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), the international organization for fire professionals, helping to promote the profession and register professional engineers with the Engineering Council. Additionally, Peter is one of the Designated People at CROSS, managing the confidential safety reports that CROSS-UK receives.
Before his current role, Peter was an Associate Director at the Fire Protection Association, overseeing the activities of the Fire and Risk Services group, and before that, an Associate Director with a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, leading a team of fire engineering consultants and fire risk assessors.
Peter’s time is mostly spent conducting fire engineering projects, risk engineering surveys, and fire risk assessments for a wide variety of clients, as well as helping to develop the fire engineering profession through the IFE, university teaching and BSI standards development work.
