We recognise that it's just not possible to create buildings that are absolutely safe, or completely secure. We also know that the financial investment made by building users in the facilities they occupy is finite and it is crucial that it’s spent wisely.
That’s why Pyrology was created, by Peter Wilkinson, in 2012. We analyse, quantify and advise on physical risks within the built environment and communicate with our client in a pragmatic and understandable way, whether they are a designer, enforcer, insurer, owner or occupier.
We operate throughout the United Kingdom, and beyond, using both directly employed and Associate consultants, with access to wide networks of expertise.
The practice is led by Peter. He is a Chartered Fire Engineer, a practicing Safety and Risk Engineer, and a Registered Fire Risk Assessor.
Peter holds an Engineering Doctorate where he investigated resilient fire engineering building design, has published numerous journal and conference papers, and authored guidance documents for the profession, including contributing to CIBSE Guide E. Peter chairs the British Standards technical committee FSH/24 Fire Engineering, and led the Panel who developed the latest part of the fire engineering code PD7974-8. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), the international organisation for fire professionals, helping to promote the profession and register professional engineers with the Engineering Council.
Peter’s time is now spent conducting fire engineering projects, risk engineering surveys and fire risk assessments for a wide variety of clients, as well as helping to develop the fire engineering profession through BSI standards development work within the UK and Europe.
